Shenandoah River State Park

This is a very pretty state park.  I can see why Virginia was voted #1 in state parks.  It is so well-kept and  beautiful.  There is plenty to do -- picnic areas, hiking trials, and you can put your boat in the Shenandoah River.  There are also camping and restroom facilities.

What a magnificent view!

There are a lot of picnic tables, grills and picnic shelters in the park

The rich history of the Shenandoah River
Long before there was an Interstate 81, a Route 522, or railroads, there was the Shenandoah River,  the Daughter of the Stars. This once pristine 300-mile waterway stretches from forks in New Market (VA) in the north and Port Republic in the south and joins in Front Royal. The main river runs from Front Royal until it empties into the Potomac at Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia.

If it wasn't so cold, I would have gone for a swim!
